Posted - 09/08/2014 : 8:09:50 PM I know subjects cannot be made to do anything under hypnosis that they would not do of their own free wills while awake, but that's not what I mean by involuntary acts here.
I'm thinking more of things that we don't normally do intentionally, like sneezing, coughing, burping, or passing wind.
Can such things be induced by hypnosis?
Can they be incorporated into a stage act or sketch?
For example, could I put someone under hypnosis, plant the post hypnotic suggestion that they would sneeze every time they said the word "be" (and/or pass wind every time they said the word "Caesar"), and then ask them to read a passage from Shakespeare after I brought them out of their trance?
I think an act like that could be very funny (Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears...), but could it be done?
