Hello there, Ive been to professional hypnotherapy afew years ago and lately I have been trying Paul Mackennas CD/mp3s and some other stuff online as well.

However i can't seem to get even CLOSE to a trance like state, in fact the opposite happens, my eyes hurt and constantly feel like they are on the verge of opening, it feels like I have to concentrate on whats being said and my minds eye works overtime or something creating the uncomfortable feeling in my eyes and head, in fact after listening to a CD/MP3 I rarely feel good at all.

I would certainly like to be hynotised. Im a critical thinker and im constantly thinking..could that have something to do with it?

At any rate, Ive tried numerous tapes, self-hypnosis but nothing appears to work.

any idea suggestions?

I forgot to add the professional hypnotherapist couldn't get me into a trance like state either. In fact even with after totally relaxing I couldnt switch off my mind which kept processing thoughts and words quite cogently.

I would really love, perhaps an alternative technique that "tricks" or bypasses my conscious mind.

In my opinion you would want to find a hypnotist to go to that uses an instant or rapid induction. That along with a confusion type deepening might help you.

A good hypnotist will have a variety of inductions to use for the variety of different people out there.

Also, a good hypnotist will be able to coach you. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The hypnotist can't 'make' you be hypnotized but they should be able to teach you how to effectively hypnotize yourself.

There really is no specific feeling to how hypnosis is meant to feel like- as it feeling like as it is in the moment- how even though- you are reading this- as you do so- I don't know if you would care to allow some of your attention to go to the most comfortable place in your body right now- and as you read on- knowing that that comfort and be right there- and aa you can allow that attention to move to a different place- you can just allow that new place to be just as relaxed- as you read on- while you do this I don't know if you need to move in one way or another to find deep comfort- and as you allow your attention to flow along- they ae times when we can slow down in inner voice ...so...it...as...to...change...the ...way...we...pay...attention...to...the...comfort...inside...our...selves.

Hypnosis is in many ways like a map- if you know where you are and where you want to go or be- and you follow in directions- then you will get to where you want to be- give your self permission to allow the experience of hypnosis just to happen- like a good pool player each short is classed as the first short- and holds as much importance as the one to follow and the one that as already been taken.

Just remember All language in and of its self is Hypnosis- if you tell your self that the sky is pink and you believe it then your sky is pink to you-

If you are in the UK you might consider checking out the IMI 3 day training event- I will be a coach on some of the days- you will never have an issue doing self hypnosis after this event-


If it has consciousness it's already in a trance.
