I hope the name of the post didnt irritate anyone to the point of not wanting to read or reply to it. Im new to both the hypnosis and forum thing. What I would like to know is techniques and steps I need to take to do self hypnosis, I would buy a book or audio for it, but I dont have the money for it. Plus I would much rather take the advise from those who actually practice it and have experimented with it and know what works. Also I definatly cant afford a hypno-therapist, wish I could, but either way I know I would feel better and more comfortable doing it myself. Thanks for any advice and help.

Hello and welcome,

Try your local Library for free books on self hypnosis or hypnosis in general.

Also there is a boat load of information available right on this web site - see the Hypnosis FAQs section at http://HypnosisOnline.com/FAQs

Another great way to find a lot of info is to review what has already been posted in this forum all about self-hypnosis (you are not the first to ask about this in here). Use the "search" link at the top of the page and do a search on "self hypnosis." You will find a lot (pages and pages) of information - including the answers that have been posted in reply to this exact same question.

After all that reading up on the subject - drop back in here (this same thread if you like) and ask any questions you may have about specifics. I am sure someone will be willing to help out.

PS - You can also subscribe to any post or thread that is of interest to you - that way you will be notified via email when anyone makes a new post.

I looked at the info listed above and got a lot of good information. I was wondering though, is it okay to work on more than one thing at a time, or should I stick with just one at a time? Also is it okay to hypnotise yourself 6-7 days a week?

Yes it’s ok to do self-hypnosis every day, you do it every day anyway, when you day dream, so you might say well, do it in a way that is going to give you some extra benefits, I would suggest Only work on one task at a time, until you get good at noticing your successes with working with one goal, once you have noticed that you are making progress then yes you can, work with a number of issues/goals at the same time, yet before you start to run, you have to get to know the landscape and be able to notice when you need to slow down and focus on important aspects of what you are working on.

If it has consciousness it's already in a trance.

I make the effort to practice EVERY day. Not easy! Discipline is the hardest thing to master.

I have an excellent book which has become my "bible" and takes (self) hypnosis in very s-t-e-a-d-y steps. Hypnosis is really the art of being able to THINK properly. Nothing happens without there first being a thought...

PM me if you'd like the ISBN number.
